OUR MISSION

Rethinking Mental Health Care
with Unknotted

At Unknotted, Your Therapy is Unique

We understand that every mental health journey is different. While psychotherapy is the foundation of our approach, we recognize that your well-being is shaped by interconnected factors like sleep, stress, diet, relationships, and physical health.

Our evidence-based model uncovers the root causes of your challenges, crafting personalized care that fosters meaningful and lasting change—helping you feel better today and thrive tomorrow.

More Than Just Treating Symptoms

We go beyond symptom management, exploring the factors influencing your mental health, including:

  • Sleep patterns

  • Stress and burnout

  • Relationships

  • Diet and physical health

Your Care, Your Way

Whether you prefer traditional talk therapy or a more integrated approach, we tailor our care to your needs:

  • Looking for traditional psychotherapy? We’ve got you covered.

  • Want to explore how lifestyle factors impact your mental health? We’ll help you address them with a personalized plan.

  • In addition to therapy, we can work together to understand how aspects like stress, diet, or even physical health might be contributing to your mental health. If needed, we can collaborate with your doctor to ensure we’re addressing the whole picture of your well-being.

Meet Dr. Abir

Dr. Abir Aldhalimi’s inspiring journey—from growing up in a refugee camp to becoming an Ivy League-educated psychologist—has profoundly shaped her approach to mental health care. With experience across the U.S. and international communities, she has dedicated her career to better understanding mental health symptoms and expanding access to care for diverse populations.

Building on these experiences, Dr. Aldhalimi founded Unknotted, a modern mental health practice and online platform, that offers personalized, high-quality psychotherapy tailored to each client’s unique needs.

As a clinical psychologist with a specialization in behavioral medicine from Yale University School of Medicine and Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. Aldhalimi has developed an innovative, evidence-based model for mental health care. Her approach takes an integrated view of mental well-being, examining how interconnected factors—such as sleep, diet, nutrition, stress, and relationships—contribute to mental health. By combining evidence-based interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with personalized strategies, she helps clients achieve meaningful and sustainable change.

Dr. Aldhalimi is trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and interpersonal therapy. Her expertise in behavioral medicine enhances her ability to identify and address the factors influencing mental health symptoms, providing a comprehensive and personalized approach to care.

Her doctoral research explored how stress impacts gene expression, uncovering the biological connection to mental health symptoms and highlighting the importance of integrating lifestyle factors and psychotherapy to foster resilience and healing.

With a deep understanding of how cultural and historical contexts influence mental health, Dr. Aldhalimi provides culturally sensitive, client-centered care tailored to each person’s unique story, needs, and aspirations, empowering them on their path to wellness.
